Research background
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of the endogenous tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg), developed and studied at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The additional Pro-Gly-Pro sequence prolongs its biological stability compared to native tuftsin.
Neurological research has focused on its interaction with GABAergic and serotonergic systems, as well as its reported influence on BDNF expression in animal models.
